Royal Palace of the Louvre (Palais du Louvre) was built around 1190. In 1370, King Charles V converted this castle into Palace. This was demolished in 1527 and a Renaissance design was planned for Francis I, completed during the reign of Henry II. In 1678 the Royal Residence moved to Versailles and the Palais du Louvre became an art gallery. The Lourve became the "Museum Napoleon" in 1803. Now Louvre Museum is one of the largest and most famous museums in the world. It's situated in the centre of Paris, between the Seine river and the Rue de Rivoli. It's 60,000 m2. In the 1980s, Chinese-American architect I.M Pei designed the celebrated glass pryamid in the main courtyard. It takes 3 days to see the whole museum. So as soon as U enter, rush to see the famous masterpieces: the Venus of Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Mona Lisa of Leonard da Vinci, and so many others.
