Pola / Pesaha Appam

Pola Ingredients2 cups rice flour10 g fresh yeast 1 tsp sugar 1 cup semolina 1 cup coconut milk 1/2 tsp saltMethodDilute yeast in luke warm water with 1 tsp sugar . Set aside for 15 minuites.Blend semolina with one cup of water & cook in medium heat for 5min.Add this to the rice flour.Then add diluted yeast & coconut milk.Mix well & keep aside for 6 hours in a warm placeIf the batter is thick add some more coconut milk.Grease the Idli maker with oil &  pour 1 tbsp of batter.Steam for 15 minuites. "Salon du livre"- Paris Book Fair

Paris Book Fair India was the guest of honour at the Paris Book Fair 2007. In this occasion, French invited Indian authors &  publishers. Some of them were Vikram Seth, Shashi Tharoor, M. T Vasudevan Nair, Gita Hariharan, Shashi Deshpande, Kalpana Swaminathan, Pavan K. Varma, Ravi Shankar Etteth, Sudhir Kakar, Sarnath Banergee, Vaiju Naravane- Journalist & Publisher of "The Hindu". Some Indian books were translated into French language.

Onion Uthappam

  Onion uthappam   Ingredients1 cup rice flour1 cup urud dal powder3 cups water1 tsp salt1/2 tsp fenugreek powder2 shallots finely chopped1 green chilli( chopped)Chopped curry leaves MethodMix all the ingredients & keep aside for one hour.Heat a nonstick pan / griddle with little oil. Pour a spoon full of batter. (Don't spread)Cook both sides .   Serve hot with chutney / curry.

Spicy Squid Fry

Spicy Squid Fry Ingredients500g squid (cut it into thin rings)1 tbsp tomato purée2 onions( finely chopped)1 tsp ginger-garlic paste1 tsp chilli powder1/2 tsp turmeric powderSalt to tasteOil for fryingCurry leavesMethodFry onions till light golden brown.Then add  ginger- garlic paste & fry again.Add add tomato purée & squid.Add water,salt & cook for a 30 mn.When the sauce is reduced, remove from fire.Garnish curry leaves.

Agriculture Fair in Paris.

Salon Internationale de L'Agriculture Every year , in the first week of March Paris hosts an International Agriculture Fair . This enables the Parisienne kids to admire the livestock of their country. Kids can feed & milk animals. Above all they can taste the agricultural products.

Cauliflower Pakoda

Cauliflower PakodaIngredients4 tbsp gram flour 1 tsp red chilli powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp crushed cumin seeds 1/2 tsp ginger paste1/2 cauliflowerCurry leaves / Coriander leavesOil for fryingMethodMake a batter using first five ingredients & water. Keep aside.Separate the cauliflower florets. Mix with 1 tsp salt & steam for 6 min.Heat oil in a pan. Take each floret, dip in the batter & fry till golden brown.Remove using a slotted spoon & drain on a kitchen paper. Serve hot with or as a starter.
