Greek Meat Balls / Keftedes
Greek Meat Balls
Ingredients
2 green chillies
A piece of ginger
2 garlic cloves
2 onions
500 g hamburger meat / ground meat
2 eggs
Salt to taste
Chopped coriader leaves
Oil for frying
Method
Blend first four ingredients in a mixer & add to the ground meat.
Mix the rest of the ingredients & keep in the refrigerator for 15 mn.
Make evenly sized balls , roll in flour & deep fry till golden brown.
Serve as a starter along with pitta bread.

Ingredients
1 bowl blackberries
3/4 bowl sugar
Juice of one lemon
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
Method
Gently heat a saucepan with first four ingredients.
Simmer & let it to boil.
Stir constantly in medium heat.
Boil until setting point is reached.
Remove from heat & fill in the airtight containers.
Thanks to Kids who went for blackberrying in the near by woods to prepare this brilliant coloured jam.These thorny shrubs are found in French forests, road sides & nearby fences. Mulberry is an aggregate fruit which are red & hard when tender & black when ripen.

Today it's "Breizh Parade" in Paris. The people in the Brittany region of France rocked Champs Elysées with their celtic music.There were 3000 musiciens & dancers.

Ingredients
2 cups rice powder
2 tbsp dessicated coconut
2 shallots finely chopped
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 green chilli finely chopped
1 tsp salt
Chopped coriander leaves
1 1/2 cup warm water
Method
Mix all the ingredients & keep aside for 1 hour.
Make lemon sized balls.
Take a dough ball & pat it into thick rotti using some oil.
Heat a non stick pan , grease & cook the rotti.
Flip & cook the other side.
Repeat the process with other dough balls.
Serve with Veg/Non veg Curry.

Modak- Lord Ganesha's favourite sweet

Ingredients
2 cups rice powder
11/2 cup luke warm water
50g ghee / butter
A pinch of salt
5 tbsp fresh coconut / dessicated coconut
15 jagerry cubes
Raisins & cashews
cardomom powder
Method
Mix the first four ingredients & keep aside for 1 hour.
Gently heat jaggery & water to make a syrup.
Remove from fire & strain it.
Add coconut,raisins, cashews & keep it in medium heat.
When it becomes thick, remove from fire.
Grease the modak mould.
Take a dough ball, put it it mould & press.
Then fill in a tsp. full of coconut mix & seal it with dough.
Repeat the process with other dough balls.
Steam cook modaks for 15-20 mn.

Chole / Channa daal curry

Ingredients
500g channa / canned garbanzo beans
2 onions (chopped)
2 tomatoes (chopped)
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 green chillies + 1 piece of ginger (chopped)
Method
Soak channa dal overnight & pressure cook.
If you are using canned, drain the water & keep aside.
Heat oil & fry onions till light golden brown.
Add ginger -chilli paste & fry again.
Then add coriander powder, turmeric powder & salt.
Stir for a while & then add chopped tomatoes.
Add some water & cook it .
If done, add cooked channa daal .
Simmer & cook for another 5 mn.
Garnish with coriander leaves & garam masala.
Goes very well with Batura.

Ingredients
200g flour ( 2 glasses)
125g yogurt
10 g fresh yeast
1/2 glass luke warm water
1/2 tsp salt
Oil for frying
Method
Dilute yeast in luke warm water with 1 tsp sugar .
Set aside for 15 minuites.
Mix all the ingredients & knead well.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth & keep aside for 1 hour.
Take a lemon sized ball & flatten it into thick disc. ( 8/10 cm discs).
Repeat the process with other dough balls.
Heat plenty of oil.
Gently slip the disc in hot oil.
When batura pops fully, splash hot oil on the top.
Turn over & fry the other side.
Remove using a slotted spoon & drain on a kitchen paper.
Ur batura is ready ! .
Serve hot with Veg / Non Veg curry .
