Half of a tapioca
2 finely chopped onions
1 tsp ginger paste / chopped ginger
A green chilli (chopped)
1 tsp chilli powder
Salt to taste
4 tbsp gram flour
2 tbsp rice flour
Curry leaves / coriander leaves (chopped)
Oil for frying
Peel,wash & cut tapioca into even strips.
Beat an egg with chopped onions & chilli.
Add both the flours (gram + rice) & mix well.
If the batter is thick add some water.
Keep aside for 15 min.
Then add evenly sliced tapioca & chopped leaves.
Heat oil in a frying pan.
Pour 1 tbsp full of the batter.
U can prepare 4/5 vada's at the same time .
Cook both sides of the vada until golden brown.
Remove using a slotted spoon & drain on a kitchen paper.
Serve hot with tea or as a starter.
Kozhi-Kalu is a roadside snack of Malabar.
These tapioca-vadas resembles a chicken feet & hence called Kozhi-kaalu.
