Chayotte Shrimp Curry


1 chayote squash (christophene/chow-chow)
250g shrimp 
1 onion (chopped)
2 shallots (chopped)
2 big tomatoes (chopped)
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 green chilli (half slit)
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup coconut milk
1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
Curry leaves/ Coriander leaves
Peel chayote & cut into small pieces.
Shell, devein and wash prawns using salt and turmeric.

Heat oil in a pan & fry chopped onions to light golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste + salt + chilli powder +turmeric powder.
Then add coriander powder. 
Stir for a while & then add chopped tomatoes along with chayote.
Then add a cup of water.
Cover & cook on low fire for 10 min.
Then add prawns & cook for another 5mn.
When cooked, add coconut milk & just swirl the skillet.
Garnish with fresh curry leaves & freshly ground pepper.
Serve with rice / bread.
Coconut milk can be replaced by liquid cream.
