Beef Stroganoff

800g beef
1 tbsp flour
1 cup button mushrooms(sliced)
1 onion + 2 shallots ( sliced)
2 garlic cloves + a piece of ginger
4 carrots, cut in coins
 2 potatoes, peeled & cubed
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 tbsp mustard paste (Dijon)
Salt to taste
Olive oil for frying
1 tsp paprika ( kashmir chilli powder)
A bayleaf
Coriander leaves
Slice beef into thin strips & mix with flour.
Warm the oil in a casserole.
Add bay leaf & then fry beef strips.
When it turns golden brown, add sliced onions & mushrooms.
Then add garlic, paprika, musturd paste tomato puree & carrots.
Stir for a while & add water .
Simmer & cook for 1h, stirring from time to time.
When half cooked, add potatoes.
If beef is cooked thoroughly, remove from fire.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Goes very well with pasta.

Beef Stroganoff is a Russian dish .
They add a dash of cognac.
