Saffron Modaks with Fig filling
Modak
Ingredients
2 cups rice powder
11/2 cup luke warm water
50g ghee / butter
A pinch of salt
1/2 tsp saffron powder

100g fig paste
2 tbsp sugar
3 cardomom pods
Almonds
Cardomom powder
Method
Dilute saffron in luke warm water.
Mix the first four ingredients & keep aside for an hour.
Grind cardomom with sugar & add to the fig paste.
Mix well & make small balls with an almond in the middle.
Grease the modak mould.
Take a dough ball in the mould, press & make space for the filling.
Then fill it with the fig ball & seal it with rice dough.
Repeat the process with other dough balls.
Steam cook modaks for 15-20 mn.
