Malabar Beef Curry
Ingredients
1 kg beef(cut in cubes)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 cup freshly grated coconut
1 tsp fennel seeds

A star anise
4 cardomom pods
3 cloves
A cinnamon stick
A bay leaf
2 shallots + 2 onions (sliced)
4 garlic cloves + A piece of ginger (paste)
2 tomatoes(sliced)
A green chilli (half slit)
1 tbsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric owder
Oil for frying
Salt to taste
Garam masala
Coriander leaves
Method
Marinate beef with first three ingredients & keep in the refrigerator for an hour.
Pressure cook(8 mn) it & keep aside.
Grind coconut + fennel seeds to a fine paste & keep aside.
Warm the oil in a casserole.
Add spices & fry for a while.
Then add sliced onions & fry till light golden brown.
Add ginger+garlic paste along with green chillies & salt.
Add coriander powder along with chilli & turmeric powders.
Then add tomatoes along with beef stock.
Cover & cook, stirring from time to time.
When the onions are cooked, add cooked beef pieces.
Reduce the heat & then add coconut paste.
Stir & remove fromfire.
Garnish with coriander leaves & garam masala.
Serve with rice / any type of bread.
