2 cups rice powder
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp sugar
11/2 cup luke warm water
50g ghee / butter
A pinch of salt
1 cups freshly grated coconut / dessicated coconut
1 cup grated beetroot
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
Raisins & cashews
Oil/ ghee for frying.
Mix the first six ingredients & keep aside for an hour.
Gently heat sugar & water to make a syrup.
Add coconut & keep it on medium heat.
When it becomes thick, remove from fire.
Add fried cashews & raisins along with cinnamon powder.
Grease the modak mould.
Take a dough ball in the mould, press & make space for the filling.
Then fill it with coconut-beet mix & seal it with rice dough.
Repeat the process with other dough balls.
Steam cook modaks for 15-20 mn.
