Alasanda Vada - Black Eyed Peas Croquettes
Ingredients
1 cup black eyed peas (Alasanda)
3 shallots (chopped)
An onion (chopped)
2 green chillies (chopped)
A piece of ginger(chopped)
2 garlic cloves(chopped)
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
2 springs of curry leaves / coriander leaves ( chopped)
2 tbsp rice powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Method
Soak black eyed peas in water for five hours.
Drain it & leave aside to dry.
Coarsely grind peas with chillies, garlic & ginger in a blender.
Then add chopped onions, curry leaves along with salt & cumin seeds.
Add rice powder, mix well & fry immediately
Make lemon sized dough balls & flatten into a disc.
Heat oil in a frying pan.
Cook both sides of the vada's until golden brown.
Remove using a slotted spoon & drain on a kitchen paper.
U can prepare 4/5 vada's at the same time .
Serve hot with tea or as a starter.
