Eiffel Tower Eiffel Tower - the symbol of Paris is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. It was built for an Universal Exhibition in 1889 commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution.This 320 meters high tower is the masterpiece of Gustave Eiffel. Paris Book Fair India was the guest of honour at the Paris Book Fair 2007. In this occasion, French invited Indian authors & publishers. Some of them were Vikram Seth, Shashi Tharoor, M. T Vasudevan Nair, Gita Hariharan, Shashi Deshpande, Kalpana Swaminathan, Pavan K. Varma, Ravi Shankar Etteth, Sudhir Kakar, Sarnath Banergee, Vaiju Naravane- Journalist & Publisher of "The Hindu". Some Indian books were translated into French language.

Louvre Museum Royal Palace of the Louvre (Palais du Louvre) was built around 1190. In 1370, King Charles V converted this castle into Palace. This was demolished in 1527 and a Renaissance design was planned for Francis I, completed during the reign of Henry II. La Basilique du Sacré Coeur The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is situated on top of the Montmatre hill - the highest point in Paris.The construction of this Romano-Byzantine style church began in 1875.Panoramic views of Paris from the top of this church is really breathtaking. One can visit the church either by taking steep steps or by funicular railway.
