Langos - Hungarian Fried Bread

Spicy Langos ingredients500g wheat flour4 medium sized potatoes(mashed)1 tsp yeast granules1 tsp salt1 tsp sugar3 shallots finely chopped2 chillies finely choppedCurry leaves chopped1 tsp Fennel seeds Oil for frying MethodDilute yeast in luke warm water with 1 tsp sugar . Set aside for 15 minuites.Mix all the other ingredients & knead well.Cover the bowl with a damp cloth & keep aside for 1 hour.Take a lemon sized ball & flatten it into thick disc. Sweet Semolina balls / Rava Ladoo

Thari UndaIngredients1 cup semolina1 cup sugar1 cup freshly grated coconut / dessicated coconut50 g butter / 3 tbsp ghee1/2 tsp cardomom powderRaisins & CashewsLuke warm milk for rollingMethodHeat ghee in a non stick pan .Fry raisins & cashews & keep aside.In the same pan add semolina & fry till light golden brown.  Keep on low fire &  add coconut & sugar. Remove from fire.Add fried raisins,cashews & cardomom powder. Mix well & let it cool.Sprinkle milk & make small balls.

Auvers-sur-Oise, Vincent Van Gogh's town .

Chateau d'Auvers-sur-Oise Auvers-sur-Oise is a charming tranquil village situated in the Regional Park of French Vexin.This is one of the cradles of impressionists. Famous painter Vincent Van Gogh spent his last days in this pretty village.Other notable impressionists who were inspired by this site were Cézanne, Monet  & Daubigny.This Castle is famous for its magnificent French Garden & Iris flower beds. Every year in May, Iris fest (Fête de l'iris) is held here.

Bonne Fête à toutes les Mamans

On the "Mother's Day" I'm posting some fragrant flowers in my Mom's garden.Brunfelsia magnifica ( Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow)These fragrant flowers start dark purle then fade to lavender & then to white.So they are commonly called " Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow ".Brunfelsia americana (Lady of the Night)These creamy white  flowers are extremely fragrant at night. So they are commonly called " Lady of the Night".Both these plants are propagated by cuttings.My Mom is blessed with gifted green fingers. ie "La Main Verte"

Rasmalai - Indian Desert

RasmalaiIngredients100ml vegetable oil ( melted  butter)300g  milk powder1 tsp baking powder2 egg whites170g condensed milk (1/2 tin)500 ml milk100g sugarA pinch of saffran1/2 tsp cardomom powderChopped  nuts ( almonds/ pistachios/cashews)Method  Whisk eggwhites & add first three ingredients.Make evenly sized balls & keep aside.Heat milk in a saucepan.When the milk starts boiling, drop balls one by one.Cook for 10mn, until the balls double in size. Fougasse aux lardons et aux olivesIngredients500g flour10 g fresh yeast1/2 glass luke warm water1/2 tsp salt2 tbsp olive oil1 cup chopped olive1/2 cup chopped hamMethodDilute yeast in luke warm water with 1 tsp sugar . Set aside for 15 minuites.Mix all the ingredients & knead well.Cover the bowl with a damp cloth & keep aside for 1 hour.Take an orange sized ball & flatten it into thick oval shaped.Make cuts using a knife (resembles a leaf)Preheat oven to 240°C (Th-8)Bake for 20-30 mn.Your Fougasse is ready to serve.
