Kefta à la marocaine

Kofta Curry

Ingredients
A small piece of ginger
2 garlic cloves
1 green chilli
1 tsp salt
Coriander leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 steaks
An egg
2 tbsp bread crumbs
1 glass red lentils
A cinnamon stick
2 onions (chopped)
1 tsp masala powder
2 big tomatoes (chopped)
2 tbsp veg oil
Salt to taste
 
Method
Wash & soak lentils for half an hour.
Blend first three ingredients in a mini food processor.
Add turmeric powder, salt, egg, 3/4 of lentils & the blended mixture to the minced meat.
Mix well with a wooden spatule.
The add bread crumbs & chopped coriander leaves.
Make small balls & keep it in the refrigerator.
Heat a sauce pan with 2 tbsp oil.
Fry the cinnamon stick.
When the aroma rises, add chopped onions.
Fry the onions till light golden brown.
Add curry powder  & fry again.
Then add the chopped tomatoes, salt & remaining lentils.
Add some water . Bring to the boil.
Then add the kefta balls & cook for 15/20 mn.
Garnish with coriander leaves & garam masala.
Serve with couscous.
It goes very well with rice, pasta & chapatti's.
