Tomato Dal Curry - Andhra Special

Tomatodhal
Ingredients

1 cup lentils (tuvara parippu) 
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
A garlic clove (sliced)
1 tsp cumin seeds

3 red tomatoes
An onion (chopped)
1 greenchilli (half slit)

1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp tumeric powder
1 tsp salt
Coriander leaves
For seasoning
1 tsp mustard seeds
1tsp urud dal seeds
3 fenugreek seeds
A pinch of asafoetida(optional)
 
Curry leaves
Method
 Cook lentils with sufficient amount of water with garlic & cumin seeds.
Using a knife cut a cross at the bottom of each tomato.
Drop them in  boiling water & leave for 20 seconds.
Cool, peel off the skin & blend.
 Heat oil in a pan. 
Fry onions till translucent along with some curry leaves & green chilli.
Add coriander powder, chilli powder & turmeric powder.
Then add blended tomato along with cooked dal.
Cook for a while & remove from fire.

Heat oil in pan & splutter mustard seeds.
Add urud dal seeds, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida & curry leaves.
Then add this to the prepared dal curry.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves & serve with rice.
