Sheer Khurma - Mughlai Desert for Onam
Sheer Khurma
Ingredients
2 cups angel hair pasta (brocken vermicelli)
3 cups milk
1/2 cup condensed milk(sweetened)
1/2 cup sugar
A pinch of salt
10 dates (sliced)
20 almonds (chopped)
5 cashews (chopped)
Few pistachios(chopped)
2 tbsp chirongi / charoli (optional)
1 tsp rose water
A pinch of saffron
2 tbsp ghee
Method
Gently heat ghee in thick bottomed vessel.
Fry vermicelli until light golden brown.
Stir in milk & cook for 8 mn.
When cooked, add sugar & condensed milk
Add a pinch of salt, rose water & stir well.
Mix saffron with 2tbsp milk & add to the payasam
If the payasam is thick, add some more milk.
Decorate with chopped nuts & dates.
Sheer Khorma is a Mughlai desert prepared for Eid .
In Persian language , 'Sheer' is milk & 'Khorma' is date.
