Sarkara Pongal
Ingredients
3/4 cup rice grains
1/4 cup split moong dal
1 cups water
2 cloves
A piece of cinnamon

3 tbsp ghee
3 cubes of jaggery
A pinch of salt
A pinch of dried ginger powder(chukku)
1/4 tsp cardomom powder
Half cup coconut milk (optional)
Raisins & Cashews
Ghee for frying
Method
Gently heat jaggery & water to make a thick syrup.
Strain it & keep aside.

Soak the rice & dal together for half an hour.
Pressure cook along with spices.
When cooked, add jagerry syrup.
Stir well so that the jagerry is well mixed with the rice.
When it thickens, remove from fire.
Add coconut milk & stir.
Add a pinch of salt,cardomom powder & dried ginger powder.
Decorate with fried raisins & cashews.
