Malvani Prawn Curry
Ingredients
1 tbsp rice grains( dry roast)
3 shallots (chopped)
1 cup freshly grated coconut
5 black pepper corns
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
3 garlic cloves
A small tomato(chopped)

Lemon sized tamarind pulp( soak &extract the juice)

500g tiger prawns ( fresh/frozen)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp salt

2 cardomom pods
A cinnamon stick
2 onions (chopped)
A tomato (chopped)
1 green chilli (half slit)
2 carrots(peel & cut in coins)
2 potatoes(peel & cubed)
Curry leaves / Coriander leaves
Oil for frying
Method
Shell, devein and wash prawns using salt and turmeric.
Marinate in salt & turmeric & keep in the refrigerator for 5 hours.

Soak tamarind in water & keep aside for 10 min. Extract the juice.
Dry roast rice grains & keep aside.
In the same pan , heat some oil.
Fry shallots to light golden brown & then add grated coconut.
When turns brown add all the powders(chilli, turmeric, coriander);
Fry on medium heat & remove from fire.
Add chopped garlic & chopped tomatoes.
Blend the masala in tamarind juice along with roasted rice grains.
Keep aside.

Heat oil in a sauce pan with spices.
Add onions & fry till light golden brown.
Then add potato cubes, carrots & chillies.
Fry for a while & then add the blended masala.
Fry for some time & then add a cup of water.
Cover & cook for 5mn.
When potaoes are cooked, add marinated prawns.
When the prawns are cooked, remove from fire.
Garnish with chopped curry / coriander leaves.
Serve with rice or any other Indian bread.
