Vendakka Mappas -Okra in Coconut milk
Ingredients
300g okra (topped, tailed & cut in 1" sticks)
1 onion(chopped)
A small piece of ginger (chopped)
2 green chillies (half slit)
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup coconut milk
2 cloves
A piece of cinnamon stick
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
C* To temper*
2 shallots thinly sliced
Freshly ground pepper
Coconut oil for frying
Few curry leaves
Method
Heat oil in a pan & fry cloves & cinnamon stick &.
Then add chopped onions & fry till light brown.
Add chopped okra along with chopped ginger & green chilli.
Add chilli powder, coriander powder tumeric powder & salt.
Mix well & add some water.
Cover & cook for 5 mn.
When cooked , remove from fire.
Add coconut milk & mix well.

Heat oil in a pan & fry shallots to golden brown.
Then add freshly ground black pepper & curry leaves
Add to the prepared curry & stir.
Serve with rice/bread.
