The two churches near the Kanyakumari shore are Our Lady of Ransom Church  & St.Arockia Nathar Church.

Our Lady of Ransom Church : In 1542, St. Francis Xavier who came for missionary work was surprised to see "Our Lady of Delights Grotto" at Kanyakumari. It's said St Thomas also visited here. Later "Our Lady of Delights Grotto" became the Church of  Our Lady of Ransom . The foundation stone of this chuch was laid on 31st May 1900 by Rev. Fr. John Consolvez & the architect was Mr. Pakiam Pillai. In 1914 Msgr. Vincent Fdo celebrated the First Mass.  The 153 ft Gothic façade is magnificent. This church is decicated to Mother Mary & the mass is held in Tamil. In 2006 the parish celebrated the golden jubilee of the erection of the golden cross and 106th year of laying foundation of the church.  
St.Arockia Nathar Church:This new church was inaugurated in 2010 & is dedicated to St Arokya Nathan.
